Cooling summer terraces and gardens.

High-pressure misting for restaurants, cafés, hotels and tourism. The felt temperature on your terrace drops by 8–12 °C — guests stay longer, the season extends by 60+ days, outdoor seating occupancy rises by 25–40 %. No wet surfaces, no noise, discreetly integrated into pergolas, parasols and canopies.

01 — Why it pays

Every hot weekend you don't lose.

In Slovenia, from late June to mid-September the average afternoon temperature exceeds 28 °C, and heatwave peaks regularly break 35 °C. This is exactly when the terrace is the most profitable part of a venue — and exactly when guests leave for indoor, air-conditioned spaces, or skip the venue altogether. High-pressure misting changes that.

Commercial impact

Restaurants that installed our systems in 2024 report 25–40 % growth in outdoor seating occupancy during heatwave days and a season extended into mid-October on the coast and the end of September inland. The investment typically pays back within one to two seasons through revenue the competition loses with a standard parasol.

Weather resilience

The system doesn't replace shading — it works in combination with a pergola, canopy or parasol. On dry, hot days (Slovenian continental climate, the Adriatic coast, Vipava, the Karst) the effect is most pronounced. In very humid days above 80 % humidity the system automatically reduces intensity so the droplets evaporate fully.

02 — Location typologies

Four typical installations.

Every site is different, but most projects fall into one of four typologies. The descriptions below are general guidelines — the final design is always adapted to your geometry, structure material and water connection capacity.

  1. Pergola and canopy

Nozzles are integrated into the upper frame of the pergola or canopy, spaced 60–80 cm apart. 11 mm tubing runs concealed in the structural profile. The most common configuration for restaurants with wooden or metal pergolas — Bled, Bohinj, Portorož, Ljubljana, Maribor.

  2. Parasol with central pole

A line of nozzles is fitted under the parasol crown. A modular solution for cafés and patisseries where the terrace is not a permanent structure. For larger parasols (4 × 4 m) we recommend 8 nozzles per parasol.

  3. Hotel pool and lounge

An extended system for poolside terraces, beach lounges and hotel gardens. Controlled by UV-radiation and temperature sensors; the system activates automatically in the afternoon sun. Wellness hotels on the Croatian coast, Bled, Rogaška, Brežice.

  4. Wine garden and tasting space

Vipava, Goriška Brda, Štajerska — wine tourism. The system keeps the space pleasant during afternoon tastings and golden-hour photography. Carefully controlled so droplets never fall on wine or glasses.

03 — How the project runs

From inquiry to start-up.

The process is designed so the system is already working at the peak of the season — when the terrace is most needed. That's why we recommend starting the conversation in February or March.

01

Inquiry + layout

You send the form with terrace size, photos and structure type. We respond in 2 working days with a proposal, consumption estimate and price.

02

Site visit

For more complex terraces we visit on-site. We check the water connection, pump location and nozzle distribution.

03

Technical design

We prepare a plan for nozzle distribution, tubing lengths and controller type. You approve before fabrication.

04

Fabrication and delivery

Tubing, nozzles and control unit are built in Kranj. Standard delivery 4–6 weeks; hotel projects 8–10 weeks.

05

Installation and start-up

Our team handles installation, water and electrical connections, sensor calibration and staff training. 1–2 days of on-site work.

06

Seasonal service

Annual pre-season service visit: fine-filter replacement, nozzle check, UV lamp control. In-season response time 48 hours.

04 — Technical specifications

Exactly what we install.

The following are typical values for a hospitality application. Because every terrace is different, final specifications are determined after the site visit.

Typical system50 m² terrace, 16–24 nozzles
NozzleStainless steel, 15 μm, anti-drip valve
Nozzle spacing60–80 cm
Flow0.05 L/min per nozzle · ~1.2 L/min total
PumpSTOM 0.8 kW, 100 bar, 3-phase or single-phase
Tubing11 mm multi-layer, press-fit, concealed in profile
Filtration50 μm + 1 μm + UV sterilisation
ControlTemp + humidity sensor · manual switch at the bar
Nozzle noise< 35 dB at 1 m
Pump noise50–55 dB (concealed in pantry)
ComplianceCE · MD · RoHS · EN ISO 22000 (food safety)

What you need on site

  • Cold drinking water connection (3/4" or 1", min. 2.5 bar pressure)
  • Electrical connection 230 V / 16 A (smaller systems) or 400 V / 16 A
  • Dry, ventilated space for the pump (min. 0.5 × 0.5 m, e.g. pantry)
  • Structure (pergola, parasol, canopy) for nozzle mounting
  • Ability to route 11 mm tubing from the pump to the structure

What we bring

  • High-pressure pump unit, filters and UV sterilisation
  • Tubing, nozzles and fittings (all stainless steel)
  • Control unit with sensors and a manual switch
  • Installation, start-up and staff training
  • Technical documentation, CE declaration and 2-year warranty

"After the first season with misting, our outdoor seats are full even when the indoor space is empty. The investment paid back by August."

05 — Frequently asked questions

Questions from venue operators.

Will the terrace be wet or slippery?

No. With high-pressure misting at 15 μm droplet size, the water evaporates in the air before reaching tables, chairs or floors. The system requires basic air circulation — under fully closed canopies with high humidity, a damp feeling can occur, so we measure before designing.

How much does a system cost for a 50 m² terrace?

A typical system for a 50 m² terrace (16–24 nozzles, controller, small 0.8 kW pump) in Slovenia ranges between 3,500 and 6,500 EUR + VAT, installation included. The price depends on installation complexity, structure material and the desired control setup.

Is the system noisy?

The nozzles are completely silent — only a faint hiss of water can be heard. The high-pressure pump emits about 50–55 dB and is typically installed in a pantry or technical room, away from guests.

What is the lead time before summer?

For guaranteed installation before June, we recommend sending an inquiry by the end of March. A standard terrace is completed within 4–6 weeks of an approved quote; complex hotel projects require 8–10 weeks.

Does it work in a closed pergola or under a canopy?

Yes, but we need basic ventilation so humid air can exchange. In fully closed structures the cooling effect drops because the air saturates quickly. For such cases we suggest fewer nozzles with lower flow and intelligent control.

Does the system run on mains drinking water?

Yes. The system connects to a standard water supply (3/4" or 1"). Water passes through a 50 μm pre-filter, a 1 μm fine filter and UV sterilisation, ensuring hygienically clean droplets. In hard-water regions (Notranjska, Karst) we recommend an additional softener.

What happens in winter?

Before winter we drain and air-blow the tubing (pneumatic blowdown), preventing frost damage. The procedure is part of the seasonal service and takes about an hour.

Other applications

Further areas of use.

We use high-pressure misting in three other areas. Each has its own specifics.
